Laurel Canyon

The East Coast quartet Laurel Canyon have released their newest EP 'East Side', which came out May 10th on Agitated Records. The three-track EP features the noise punk outfit's latest music since their self-titled debut album, which was released one year ago to impressive reviews in Mojo, Uncut, and Clash, reaching #36 on the UK's Official Record Store Chart and receiving airplay from Iggy Pop on his BBC Radio 6 Music show. The new songs - 'East Side', 'Garden of Eden', and 'Untitled' - expand on their feedback-laden, amphetamine-fueled garage rock sound with sharper focus and tenacity. The cover art (by photographer Alec Ilstrup) shows a stark found object style photograph of Laurel Canyon-branded naloxone spray - which is used to reverse or reduce the effects of opioids - representing the music within as a shot-to-the-heart of rock 'n' roll.
The boys - Nick, Serg, Dylan and Lachlan - recorded the EP last October in Brooklyn, NY with producer Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Hinds) at Serious Business Music, right where lo-fi indie rock legends Guided By Voices recorded their latest handful of albums with engineer Travis Harrison. Additional engineering and final mixing was done by Grammy-winning engineer/mixer Phil Joly (The Strokes, Daft Punk, Lana Del Rey) in the band's hometown of Allentown, PA during the winter months going into 2024. The tracks were polished off by Australia's premiere mastering guru, Mikey Young (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard), resulting in a tour-de-force of fuzzed-out sonic ferocity.
Mojo wrote of their first album: "Grungy thrills and sick pop hooks abound on this pedal-stomping, amps-to-11 debut" and the group is sounding even better since - the new songs sound like the roof might blow right off of the room they're being played in. Since the release of their album, Laurel Canyon have been honing this new material live, playing upwards of 40 shows along the East Coast to rabid audiences, gaining more and more followers in the New York City club circuit. The result is an EP performed in a few takes with both militant precision and reckless abandon, bringing their well-oiled live show right into the studio and ready for your ears.

Genre Is Death

Genre is death is a two-piece punk experimental group comprised of Ty Varesi and Tayler Flesh. Using loopers, synths, and overdrive pedals, you can expect a loud, angry, and at times melodic set that adds to the No Wave tradition.

Three-piece experimental Alt-Rock band shira is ecstatic to release their debut album, 7plant, out on all platforms April 7th. Showcasing their inclination for genre-bending compositions, 7plant twists and turns from song to song - mirroring their high-energy live sets. Travis Harrison, long-time producer of Guided by Voices, continues his work with the band on 7plant after engineering shira’s debut singles in 2023. Look out for the band’s forthcoming single, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum this summer. Hailing out of New York City, shira features of Frankie Fowlkes on guitar, Ren Haas on drums, and David Reichberg on bass - all sharing vocal duties.
