Blending electric Miles adventurism with kraut-y psychedelia, it was an auspicious debut. Powered by the internal combustion of Emergency Group’s fearless and freewheeling improvisational prowess, its two extended tracks left you hungry for more. Fortunately, the quartet is already in the planning stages for another LP, this one in collaboration with Psychic Temple / Big Ego mastermind Chris Schlarb. Vague Plot is an instrumental quintet based out of Brooklyn, New York. With an exploratory sense of melody, pattern and rhythm, the band engages in a free-rock aesthetic where the process is the medium. Everything happens in the moment and is recorded as-is or worked into a composition. A key characteristic of the group is its emphasis on collaboration and negotiation. Within this exchange, sounds, textures, and phenomena crystallize into adventurous musical forms.
