Rebounder

Born and raised in New York City, Dylan and Noah Chenfeld have seen it all. The scenes come and
gone, the old haunts shuttered, the waves of new transplants. That’s the backdrop of their band
Rebounder’s long-awaited debut album Downtown People: love, lust, and fuckups in one long humid NYC
summer. Inspired in equal parts by NYC’s vast music history, alt-pop icons of the 2010s, and literary
giants, Downtown People is an urbane, effervescent indie rock album created from the rhythms and pulse
of a perfect, sun-dappled morning in the city the band has always called home.
After a childhood spent playing music together and a young adulthood touring in other people’s bands,
Dylan and Noah founded Rebounder and quickly garnered acclaim for their early EPs, leading to opening
slots for acts like Phoenix, Muna, Cults, and The Neighbourhood. Though there are small contributions
from musicians and producers they are friends with throughout Downtown People–including Jesse
Rutherford (The Neighbourhood), Gianluca Buccellati (Arlo Parks), Alessandro Buccellati (SZA,
Beabadoobee), and Ivan Berko (fcukers)–the album was made the way the Chenfelds have always
worked: the two of them alone, trading instruments and ideas, in their windowless Greenpoint, NY
recording studio. A multi-faceted series of vignettes set across New York in late night hours and bleary-
eyed sunrises alike, Downtown People is the sound of discovery–not only a proper introduction to
Rebounder, but the sound of life in the city always asking, “What’s around that next corner?”
